Cookie policy

Every time you use our online services, we use cookies and other online tracking technologies (which we will also refer to as “cookies” for the purposes of this Cookie Policy).

Cookies can be used in a variety of ways. For example, they make the Lyciahomes.com website work, they analyze traffic, or they serve advertising purposes.

What are cookies and online tracking technologies?

Web browser cookies are small text files that websites place on your computer or mobile device’s browser.

These cookies store information about the content you view and use in order to remember your preferences and settings and analyze how you use online services.

A distinction is made between “first-party cookies” and “third-party cookies.”

First-party cookies are cookies served by the company that operates the domain – in our case, this is Lyciahomes.com. All cookies placed by us are therefore “first-party cookies”.

Third-party cookies are cookies placed on our domains by trusted third parties that we have allowed to do so. These can be social media partners, advertising partners, security providers and more.

They may be “session cookies” or “persistent cookies”.

Session cookies remain only until you close your browser and end the so-called “session”. After that, they are deleted.

Persistent cookies have varying durations and remain on your device even after you close your browser. On the Lyciahomes.com platform, we try to use only persistent cookies with limited duration and allow third parties to use them. For security reasons or in other exceptional circumstances, a cookie may have a longer duration.

Web browser cookies may store information such as your IP address or other personal information, your browser type, and information about the content you viewed and used and interact with other digital services. By storing this information, web browser cookies can store your preferences and settings for online services and analyze how you use them.

In addition to cookies, we also use tracking technologies that are very similar. Our website and emails may contain small transparent graphics or lines of code that store how you interact with them. These include “tracking pixels,” “scripts,” or “tracking URLs.”

Tracking pixels have many different names. They are also known as web bugs, tracking bugs, tags, web tags, page tags, tracking pixels, pixel tags, 1×1 GIFs, or transparent GIFs.

Tracking pixels are tiny graphics that are only one pixel in size and are sent to your device either through a web page query, in an advertisement or in email HTML format.

They can be used to retrieve data from your device, such as your device type or operating system, your IP address and the time of your visit. Pixels are also used to serve and retrieve cookies in your browser or to trigger the placement of a cookie.

Scripts are small computer programs embedded in our websites that give these pages a variety of additional functionality. Scripts help ensure that a web page functions properly. For example, scripts drive certain security features and enable basic interactive functions on our website.

Scripts can also be used for analytical or advertising purposes. For example, a script may collect information about how you use our website, what pages you visit, and what you search for.

Tracking URLs are links with unique identifiers. These are used to track from which website you came to the Lyciahomes.com website. For example, you come to us through a social media site, a search engine etc. All of these tracking technologies are collectively referred to as “cookies “in this Cookie Policy.

How are cookies used?

Cookies are used to collect information. These include:

  • IP address
  • Device number
  • Web pages viewed
  • Browser type
  • Browsing information
  • Operating System
  • Internet Service Provider
  • Timestamp
  • Whether you have responded to an advertisement
  • URL called up

Cookies are used to identify you as the same user on different pages of a website, on different devices and on different websites. Cookies are divided into three categories depending on their purpose: functional cookies, analytical cookies and marketing cookies.

Functional cookies – These cookies are necessary for the functioning of our websites and must be enabled in order for you to use our services.

Functional cookies are used to create modern and user-friendly websites that automatically adapt to your wishes and needs, so that you can easily search and book. This includes enabling important security and access features.

These cookies have the following functions:

  • Enable our website to function correctly so you can create an account, log in and manage your bookings. Store your chosen currency and language settings, your previous searches and other preferences so that you can use our website efficiently and effectively.
  • Save your login credentials so you don’t have to re-enter your credentials every time you visit our website. (Don’t worry, passwords are always encrypted).

Analytical cookies – These cookies measure and track how our website is used. We use this information to improve our website and services.

These cookies have the following functions:

  • Help us understand how visitors and customers use Lyciahomes.com.
  • Help improve our website and communications to keep us interesting and relevant.
  • Help us figure out what works and what doesn’t work on our website.
  • Help us assess the effectiveness of advertising and communications.
  • Show us how users interact with our website after seeing an online advertisement (including advertisements on third-party websites).

The data we collect through these cookies includes the pages you visited, referring and exit pages, the platform you used, the emails you opened and responded to, and date and time information. This also means that we may collect data about your user behavior on the website. This includes for example the number of mouse clicks on a particular page, mouse movements, scrolling activity, the search terms you enter and the text you enter in the relevant fields.

Marketing cookies – These cookies are used by Lyciahomes.com and our trusted partners to collect information about you over time on various websites or other platforms.

Marketing cookies help us decide which products, services, and Internet-based advertisements to show you, both on our website and elsewhere.

These cookies have the following functions:

  • They categorize you into a particular interest profile based on the web pages you visit and your click-through behavior. We use these profiles to display personalized content (such as travel ideas or specific accommodations) on Lyciahomes.com and other websites.
  • We display personalized and interest-based advertisements on the Lyciahomes.com website and on other websites. This process is called “retargeting.” It is based on your activity on our website, such as the destinations you search, the accommodations you view, and the prices you see. It may also depend on your shopping habits or other online activities.
  • Retargeting ads may also be shown to you before or after you visit Lyciahomes.com. Their goal is to get you to browse or return to our website. For example, you may see these ads on websites, in apps, or in emails.
  • They integrate Social Media with our website. This allows you to share and “Like” content or products on Social Media such as Facebook, Instagram, and Pinterest.
  • These “Like” and “Share” boxes use small code components from each Social Media provider to allow third party cookies to be placed on your device.
  • These cookies can be purely functional, but they can also be used to store the websites you have visited from their network, to profile your online search behavior, and to show you personalized ads. This profile is created in part by comparable information that providers receive from your visits to other websites in their network.

We work with trusted third parties to collect data. We may sometimes share information with these third parties, such as your email address or phone number. These third parties may link your information with other information they collect to create a Custom Audience or serve targeted ads.

Techniques without cookies – email pixels:

We may also use practices such as pixels that are not recognizable as cookies because they do not store information on your device.

We sometimes place pixels in emails, such as newsletters. A “pixel” is a single pixel-sized electronic file that is placed in an email and loads when you open it. By using email pixels, we can see if the message has been sent, if and when you read the message, and what you click on.

We also receive this information through the push notifications we send you. These statistics give us feedback about your reading behavior, which we use to optimize our messages to make our communications more relevant to you.

What are your options?

To learn more about cookies and how to manage or delete them, visit allaboutcookies.org or the help section of your browser.

In the settings of browsers such as Internet Explorer, Safari, Firefox or Chrome, you can specify which cookies should be accepted and which should be rejected. If you choose to disable certain functional cookies, you may not be able to use certain parts of our service. Based on your mobile device, you may also be able to restrict data sharing for retargeting purposes through the settings. If you choose to do so, please note that disabling an advertising network does not mean that you will no longer receive online advertising or be part of any marketing analysis. Only the network you deactivate will no longer show you ads tailored to your preferences and browsing habits.
